2017 Bugatti Chiron
Bugatti turned the automotive world on its head with the arrival of the legendary Veyron in the early 2000s. Former Volkswagen Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech, an accomplished engineer in his own right, was determined to revive the Bugatti brand with a monumental, mid-engine sportscar that needed to achieve speeds of over 400 km/h (248 mph), accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds, but should also be able to drive to and from the opera house in complete comfort. These were extraordinary demands and it became immediately apparent that an extraordinary engine would need to be created in order to meet these production benchmarks. After several years of research and development, the final product was an 8.0-litre 16-cylinder, quad-turbocharged engine that made nearly 1000 horsepower. This motor would become the centerpiece of the Bugatti Veyron across its nearly 10-year production run that came to an end in 2015 and saw 450 units built across several different model variants.
The success of the Veyron was going to be incredibly difficult to surpass. On March 1, 2016, Bugatti shocked the automotive world yet again with the global debut of the Chiron. Although it featured entirely brand-new styling and a new base price of $2,998,000, the Chiron also featured the same the quad-turbocharged W16 engine featured in the Veyron. However, it was heavily updated to now pump out nearly 1500 horsepower and took the Veyron's already incredible performance figures to a new, mind-blowing level. The Chiron is capable of achieving 0-62 mph in less than 2.4 seconds and the top speed was electronically limited to 261mph. All of this could be achieved with a level of comfort and sophistication never before seen in a sportscar. The Chiron would go on to be even more successful than the Veyron, with 500 units being built across several different model variants between 2017 and 2024.
This Chiron proudly offered for sale is quite special in its own right. Some Bugatti afficionados might recognize this car as the famous former factory show car that was proudly shown by Bugatti across the United States between 2017 and 2019. In 2019, this Chiron was decommissioned from its tour of duty and promptly sent back to the Bugatti factory in Molsheim, France showing approximately 15,700 miles. Once back at the factory, Bugatti essentially rebuilt the entire car from the ground up, only keeping the original engine and odometer intact. The original engine was completely rebuilt and serviced thoroughly and mated to a brand new transmission. The exquisite Terre D'Or leather interior was reupholstered with brand new leather and the Liquid Silver/Blue Royal Carbon Fiber exterior was also repainted. Upon completion, the car was put through Bugatti's rigorous testing protocol that all new Bugattis receive. The car was then brought back to the United States and sold to its first and only owner with 15,900 miles. Now offered for sale with 16,296 miles, it has only been driven approximately 400 miles since it was essentially turned into a brand-new car. Finished in an exceptionally classy color combination and fully serviced up to date, this Chiron is easily one of finest cars available for sale today.
