TAG TURBO SJ87:
Unveiled at Rennsport in 2018, the 930 TAG Turbo by Lanzante represents a remarkable feat of modern engineering, pairing a Formula 1 engine with genuine racing pedigree to one of the most iconic body styles in automotive history. The result is a street-legal Porsche 930 Turbo powered by one of the most successful powerplants ever seen in Formula 1 competition.
Only 11 examples of the TAG Turbo will be built, each as unique as the racing engines installed beneath their carbon fiber hoods. Of this exclusive series, the SJ87 model is the most distinctive, utilizing the very engine that Stefan Johansson raced in the back of his McLaren MP4/3 Formula 1 car during the 1987 season. The crowning touch, however, is the hand-painted design covering the entire body of SJ87, created by Johansson himself using the colors from his iconic 1987 racing helmet - a true one-of-a-kind tribute to the car's remarkable racing pedigree.
"Memories of a Past Life" is a captivating series of abstract paintings by Stefan Johansson, drawing inspiration from his storied Formula 1 racing career. Each work is named for a specific corner or section at various Grand Prix circuits around the world, evoking Johansson's vivid recollections from the cockpit.
The color palette of the SJ87 pays elegant homage to Johansson's iconic helmet design from his McLaren racing days. The three shades of green directly mirror the leaves depicted on his helmet, a touching reference to the childhood nickname 'Little Leaf' given to him by his father. The blues and yellows further evoke Johansson's Swedish heritage, while the bold red and white elements represent the prominent Marlboro sponsorship that graced both his helmet and the livery of his legendary McLaren MP4/3 race car - the very same from which the special 1.5-liter V6 twin-turbo powerplant is derived.
The SJ87 was meticulously crafted to commemorate Johansson's celebrated racing legacy and was fittingly unveiled on the eve of the Austrian Grand Prix, where he had previously raced this iconic engine. Its gleaming Porsche Grand Prix white bodywork is adorned with a painstakingly detailed, custom paint scheme that serves as a dynamic expression of Johansson's enduring creativity and the interplay of his past and present passions.
